Interpret and analyse data relating to geographic position on the earth’s surface
Geospatial mapping and science specialists interpret and analyse geospatial data and use leading edge digital technology such as laser scanning, geographic information systems, remote sensing and imagery. They provide data analysis and advice for mapping, satellite navigation systems, global positioning systems, infrastructure, the identification of local, suburban or international boundaries, military, mining, and a range of other purposes. During the geospatial mapping and science specialist apprenticeship, you’ll train in the interpretation, manipulation and analysis of geospatial information, data and measurement, to provide strategic advice and recommendations based on this analysis. You’ll work in either the public or private sector, for employers such as consultants, contractors, rail operators, government, the military, mapping companies, and suppliers of computer-based mapping technology. On completion, you’ll achieve a bachelor’s degree in a geospatial science subject.

Relevant school subjects: Geography, ICT and science
Entry requirements for the geospatial mapping and science specialist apprenticeship: Three A-levels, a relevant level 3 apprenticeship in a construction or property-related discipline; or equivalent qualifications. Relevant experience may also be beneficial, particularly if strong analytical skills are demonstrated
Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
Potential salary upon completion: £30,000 per annum
