Food and drink technical operator apprenticeship

Work on production operations, setting up and performing operational maintenance on machinery

Within the food and drink technical operator apprenticeship role you’ll support the manufacture of quality food and drink products, conducting start-up, close-down and handovers in the manufacturing process. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing any faults and resolving them, along with performing basic care and maintenance of the machinery. You’ll be involved in the demonstration of compliance, including updating records and documents and conducting risk assessments. You’ll have deadlines to meet in regards productivity and efficiency, along with environmental requirements, ensuring the health and safety of yourself and others. You will most likely be required to work shifts, including unsociable hours.

 

Duration: 30 months

Relevant school subjects: DT, engineering

Entry requirements for the food and drink technical operator apprenticeship: Depend on employer, typically 4 GCSEs at grade 4, including maths, English and a science

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £23,000 per annum
