Ensure the safety and quality of food and drink products

A food industry technical professional is passionate about their industry and ensures all products are safe to eat, of consistent appearance, taste and texture, and take great pride in their work. There are a wide variety of technical professional roles available to you under this apprenticeship, including assistant food technical manager, quality manager, shift quality manager and hygiene manager. In one of these roles, you’ll ensure the safety and quality of food products. This work includes improving existing products and launching new products, working with operational teams to develop good practices and procedures, and developing good relationships with customers. You’ll be employed by a grower, food manufacturer or retailer. On completion of the food industry technical professional apprenticeship, you’ll achieve a degree in food science and technology.

 

Duration: 48 months

Relevant school subjects: Science and food technology

Entry requirements for the food industry technical professional apprenticeship: Three A-levels, including a science or food technology and English and maths at level 2

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £32,000 per annum
