Historic environment adviser apprenticeship

Provide advice, guidance and assessment to those working on heritage assets

As a historic environment adviser, you’ll interact with a range of clients, colleagues and stakeholders in the public, private and third sectors, within organisations of any size. Examples of heritage assets include historic buildings, places, landscapes, townscapes, monuments, the historic marine environment, archaeological sites and deposits of heritage interest, registered parks, gardens and battlefields. Your work will typically be office based but normal duties could include visiting historic sites and attending meetings. You’ll be responsible for delivering professional advice and recommendations on change, protection, maintenance, interpretation, conservation or restoration within the historic environment; through critically analysing, interpreting and evaluating complex information. During the historic environment adviser apprenticeship you’ll undertake research within your specialist area to develop an understanding of the historic environment, setting standards and best practice and providing strategic leadership within the sector. On completion, you’ll achieve a master’s degree in a relevant conservation or archaeology of the historic environment or heritage specialism.

Entry requirements for the historic environment adviser apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 7 (Degree)—equivalent to a master’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £28,000 per annum
