Insurance professional apprenticeship

Specialise within an area of business in insurance, such as broking, client management or underwriting

The insurance professional apprenticeship will see you gain appropriate, professional qualifications and skills that have application across the insurance industry. This apprenticeship will arm you with the technical, industry and business knowledge, and the skills needed to apply this to a range of complex or unfamiliar situations. You could be involved in broking, client management, underwriting, claims, operations, loss adjusting, reinsurance, risk management, product and pricing, and complaint handling, depending on the type of business that you work at. For example, as a broker, you may provide technical support in administering the insurance arrangements of new or existing clients, negotiating and arranging cover to meet their needs. Upon completion, you’ll be able to apply for professional registration with the Chartered Insurance Institute or the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters.

 

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: Maths

Entry requirements for the insurance professional apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience, particularly where strong negotiating skills are shown

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree and above

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
