The role of internal audit departments is to provide an independent, objective assurance and give advice to add value and improve an organisation’s operations. You’ll help an organisation meet its objectives by bringing a new approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, compliance and finance. During the internal audit practitioner apprenticeship, you’ll train in researching, data gathering, documenting and testing, to best identify weaknesses so that steps can be taken to address them. Internal auditor roles are found in the public, private and voluntary sectors, where the internal audit function is acknowledged as a cornerstone of good corporate governance essential to the success of an organisation.
Duration: 18 months
Relevant school subjects: Maths and ICT
Entry requirements for the internal audit practitioner apprenticeship: A-levels or equivalent qualifications
Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree
Potential salary upon completion: £35,000 per annum
