Carry out investment transactions on behalf of individuals or organisations
An investment operations specialist works within the operational and administrative areas of businesses in the financial services sector that engage in investment management and consulting, trading and reporting activities. Financial instruments and products are varied and increasingly complex, requiring specialist skills to ensure that they are efficiently processed, registered, reported and valued within the employing organisation, between counterparties and clients. During the investment operations specialist apprenticeship, you’ll typically sit within the operations areas of stock exchanges, stockbrokers, investment managers, banks, financial advice and wealth management firms, and investment consulting and investment administration businesses. You’ll learn how to perform complex activities, become fluent in the systems and processes of the organisation, become aware of the wider risk implications of your role and the business, and aspire to attain training or supervisory responsibilities.
