Inspect components, materials, welds and other items
Non-destructive testing is an engineering science-based profession that requires competent operators to inspect materials, welds, components or other items to verify their integrity under managed and supervised conditions. During the non-destructive testing operator apprenticeship you’ll perform inspections within manufacturing processes, often in production line environments and with high product volumes, typically, but not exclusively, using simple methods. You’ll work as part of an inspection team or department and report your findings through your employer’s quality management system processes. The skillset and depth of proficiency that you’ll achieve, while focused on one non-destructive testing method, will be transferable across all engineering sectors, whether it’s in nuclear, power generation, transport, oil and gas, or defence.
