A career as an ordnance munitions and explosives professional is challenging, stimulating and dynamic. During the ordnance, munitions and explosives professional apprenticeship you’ll learn to work with ‘energetic’ hazardous materials such as explosives, propellants and pyrotechnics, on behalf of any number of organisations, including defence, chemical, commercial, military, security, nuclear and analytical services, as well as government bodies such as the Ministry of Defence. You’ll train in a range of technical, engineering and scientific activities, which may include laboratory-based investigations, engineering studies and scientific experimentation. You’ll analyse, interpret and evaluate technical information, concepts and ideas, and use these to develop subsequent products, experiments or investigations and to propose solutions to problems. On completion, you’ll achieve a degree in ordnance munitions and explosives.

 

Duration: 60 months

Relevant school subjects: Science

Entry requirements for the ordnance, munitions and explosives professional apprenticeship: 18 years of age or above. Three A-levels, including maths, or relevant qualifications or experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 6 (Degree)—equivalent to a bachelor’s degree

Potential salary upon completion: £34,000 per annum
