Provide care for people of all ages and from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs
This role is designed to bridge the gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses. A nursing associate is a standalone role that will also provide a route into graduate level nursing, enabling registered nurses to focus on more complex clinical duties. During the nursing associate apprenticeship you’ll work in the public, independent and voluntary sectors, providing care for people of all ages and from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. You may provide care for people who have mental, physical, cognitive and behavioural care needs, visiting people in their own home, in the community or hospital or in any healthcare settings where their needs are supported and managed. You’ll work in the context of continual change, challenging environments, different models of care delivery, shifting demographics, innovation and rapidly evolving technologies. As a nursing associate you must be emotionally intelligent and resilient, able to manage your own personal health and wellbeing, recognise boundaries of your practice and know when and how to access support. The standards for proficiency are set by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
