Help clients make strategic, tactical and operational decisions
As an operational research specialist you could work for businesses across a number of industry sectors to help your clients make strategic, tactical and operational decisions by using advanced analytical methods to understand and solve complex problems. During the operational research specialist apprenticeship you’ll make recommendations for change and support any implementation. In your daily work, you’ll be part of a team, working alongside operational and policy experts and managers, interacting with specialists including economists, data scientists, social scientists and accountants. A typical day may include overseeing and conducting analysis, meeting clients, managing projects and commissioning work. You’ll need to be a good communicator, giving impartial advice and recommendations, along with any associated risks. Other job titles could include analytics specialist, management scientist and operational analyst.
Duration: 24 months

Entry requirements for the operational research specialist apprenticeship: Depend on employer, but likely A-levels or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Achievement upon completion: Level 7 (Higher)—equivalent to a master’s degree
Potential salary upon completion: £28,000
