Manage teams and projects
An operations or departmental manager leads teams and projects according to predetermined goals and objectives, as part of an organisation’s wider strategy. This apprenticeship can be undertaken within public and private organisations, and across sectors, as the skills you’ll learn will have a broad application and are highly desirable. During the departmental manager apprenticeship, you’ll develop into a manager who can create and deliver operational plans, manage projects, finances, resources and talent, and coach and mentor members of staff. You’ll need to take responsibility for your work, be approachable to your colleagues, flexible to the needs of the organisation and set an example with your professional values. On completion of this apprenticeship, you’ll be able to register as a full member with the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Leadership & Management, and use your three years of management experience to apply for Chartered Manager status.
