Passenger transport service professionals make a difference by ensuring passengers are able to travel safely, on time and in comfort from the beginning to the end of their chosen journey. The passenger transport driver apprenticeship is a great opportunity to acquire the skills and knowledge that play a vital role in providing a high-quality, accessible and safe passenger transport service to all customers. Depending on the type of transport system your employer is responsible for, you could be driving buses, coaches or trams. Your duties will include the effective and efficient operation of a passenger transport vehicle, driving legally and safely with a high attention to detail and prioritising the safety of the passengers and the wider public. For bus and coaches, you must hold a valid UK driving licence. This will allow you to drive a vehicle with more than eight passengers.

Duration: 12 months

Entry requirements for the passenger transport driver apprenticeship: Certain medical requirements must be met to receive a provisional PCV licence. Apprentices must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid UK driving licence, at least category B (car driving)

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: Depends on type of transport
