Probate technician apprenticeship

This apprenticeship is no longer available. Try the legal technician apprenticeship instead.

Assist a probate lawyer with administering the estate of a deceased person

A probate technician supports the principal practitioner in administering an estate—made up of a person’s wealth, property and possessions, once they have passed away. During the probate technician apprenticeship, you’ll focus on the legal and tax requirements relating to the administration of an estate, while the senior practitioner focuses on fee-earning activities. You’ll undertake a varied role, as no two estates are the same, and will deal with clients at a particularly emotional time, so you’ll need to be empathetic and understanding. If you’re willing to learn and want to develop a wider working knowledge of law beyond probate, it’s worth noting that probate technicians will experience overlap with many other areas of law. This apprenticeship is suitable for candidates of all levels of ability and experience, including those new to the profession.
