Prepare tax returns, reports and financial information for businesses and individuals
Working in taxation, accounts or finance, you’ll help organisations prepare accurate tax information and meet their legal responsibilities. Professional taxation technicians can work in accountancy firms, tax advisory businesses, HMRC, finance teams or organisations across the public, private and voluntary sectors. During the professional taxation technician apprenticeship, you’ll support the preparation of tax returns, statements and supporting documents, while helping to check that information is accurate, complete and submitted on time. In your day-to-day work, you may gather financial data, use digital systems, review tax records, prepare reports, support tax reconciliations, research tax issues and communicate with colleagues, clients, customers, auditors or government agencies. You’ll also learn how to spot tax risks, follow regulations, apply ethical and professional standards and keep up to date with changes in tax rules. This role suits someone who is organised, confident with numbers, comfortable using digital tools and interested in finance, business and problem solving.
