Supervise staff, their work and sales within a retail environment

A retail manager is responsible for delivering sales targets and a positive experience to customers that will encourage repeat custom and loyalty. During the retail manager apprenticeship you’ll find that it is a diverse role that includes leading and developing a team to achieve business objectives and working with a range of people, requiring excellent communication skills. Maximising income and minimising wastage will be essential to your job, and so you must develop a sound understanding of business and people management principles to support the achievement of business objectives. You’ll champion personal development, training and continuous improvement, encouraging your team to develop their own skills and abilities to enhance performance and productivity. Progression from this apprenticeship would be into a retail store, senior retail or area manager position.

 

Duration: 12 months

Relevant school subjects: Business studies

Entry requirements for the retail manager apprenticeship: Previous experience in a supervisory role with retail or a similar sector

Achievement upon completion: Level 4 (Higher)—equivalent to a foundation degree

Potential salary upon completion: £25,000 per annum
