Surveying technician apprenticeship

Collect information from site inspections to advise clients on land, property or construction

The surveying technician apprenticeship may be taken across residential and commercial construction and property, as well as in land-based sectors such as rural, minerals, waste management, and planning and development. During the surveying technician apprenticeship, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively collect information from inspections or visits to buildings, land and construction sites; take measurements of buildings, land or plans; meet other professionals and clients to obtain and provide information relating to land, property or construction; collect and record data relating to land, buildings or construction for technical use; cost using data collected from research; and ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Upon completion, you’ll be able to become an associate member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Duration: 24 months

Relevant school subjects: Maths

Entry requirements for the surveying technician apprenticeship: Five GCSEs, including maths and English, or a level 2 apprenticeship in a construction- or property-related discipline

Achievement upon completion: Level 3 (Advanced)—equivalent to A-levels

Potential salary upon completion: £22,000 per annum
