Construct, maintain and repair water network infrastructure
Water network operatives typically work in one of the water industries, working for utility owners, operators or contractors, within small to large companies. This is a core and options apprenticeship, so you’ll need to complete the core and one option as either a clean or waste network operative. Your main role will be to construct, maintain and repair water network infrastructure, to provide a reliable service to domestic, commercial and industrial users. You’ll ensure the site is safe for work, which may include traffic management and control, complete site excavation and restore the site to a safe condition. During the water network operative apprenticeship you’ll use a range of powered equipment and hand tools, such as diggers. Depending on the work required, you may spend the day at one site or work across a number of sites. Work locations may include new build sites, public highways or domestic properties. You will be required to work in all weather conditions and may need to work shifts, on standby and during unsociable hours.
