Beauty therapy is one of the largest, trusted, professional and continually expanding industries within hair and beauty. The work environment can be varied in size, style and ambiance, from a cruise ship, through to a small bespoke salon or luxury high-end beauty salons and spas. As a beauty therapist, you’ll work independently or as part of a team supported by a manager when completing treatments as a key part of a beauty business. You’ll demonstrate a willingness to learn, have an enquiring and curious mind and be enthusiastic to learn about your chosen career. In addition, you’ll exhibit a good work ethic, and the drive and commitment to learn and maintain continual professional development. You’ll deliver essential one-to-one beauty therapy treatments while maintaining the organisation’s image, financial viability and reputation. You’ll act with professionalism, without supervision and observe safe working practices to a high level of precision.


Duration: 15 months

Relevant school subjects: Art

Entry requirements: Depend on employer, but likely GCSEs or equivalent qualifications or relevant experience

Achievement upon completion: Level 2 (Intermediate)—equivalent to GCSEs

Potential salary upon completion: £18,000 per annum
