Two apprentices scoop awards for their work on PE apprenticeships

Deneil Thomas and Declan Brown were recognised for their efforts on their PE apprenticeships.

Two Lincolnshire-based apprentices have scooped prestigious awards recognising the impact of their work during their PE apprenticeships.

Deneil Thomas is currently completing a community activator coach apprenticeship at West Grantham CE Primary Academy.

He was awarded Partner Apprentice of the Year at the Inspire Education Group Student Awards 2023.

Speaking about his success, Deneil’s mentor and teacher at his school, Dale Kitchen, said: “I have seen a substantial evolution from a nervous, fast-talking teenager to a confident young professional.

“His ability to develop rapport and relationships with pupils, staff and parents has been a joy to watch.”

Declan Brown, who works at Scampton Church of England School, was named the overall Lincolnshire Apprentice Champion out of 43 shortlisted apprentices.

He is undertaking the community sport and health officer apprenticeship after completing the community activator coach apprenticeship, achieving a distinction.

Charlie Hebborn, headteacher at Scampton Primary, described Declan as an inspiration and “a great role model”.

The provider behind the awards, which oversaw Daniel and Declan’s training for their PE apprenticeships, has been developing apprentices since 2018.

It specialises in PE, sport and education, overseeing the training portion of apprenticeship programmes while apprentices work in local schools, lead before and after-school clubs, and assist with lessons.

Vincent Brittain, chief executive officer of inspire+, congratulated the apprentices on their success, saying: “They represent the many inspire+ trained apprentices across the East of England that support their schools so well and achieve so much positive impact for the benefit of the children.”

If you are considering a career in sports and education, then inspire+’s PE apprenticeships may be for you. And you’re in luck because the training provider recently opened to 2023 applications.
