Lloyds Banking Group: Aiman

Create a future that’s right for you

Aiman Naseer, internal audit apprentice, on her role with Lloyds Banking Group:Lloyds Banking Group logo

My mum works at Lloyds Banking Group, so growing up, I always knew that it was a great option for a dynamic career. I was interested in more analytical subjects at school, I studied maths, economics, and computer science when I did my A-Levels, and I knew working in financial services would best benefit my skills.

When I decided to take the first steps into my career, I thoroughly researched apprenticeships within the financial services. Inspired by my mum, I decided to explore my opportunities within Lloyds Banking Group, and I was thrilled to be accepted in the Group Internal Audit Apprenticeship Programme at Level 7.

I really love the variety of the work I get to do. My day-to-day role involves working with various audit teams to identify potential risk areas across Lloyds Banking Group, and provide assurance that the organisations Governance, Risk Management, and Control processes are operating effectively so that we can stay secure and support our customers. As part of the Auditing team, I appreciate being able to gain insights ‘behind the scenes’ while also providing my independent opinion.

Being with Lloyds Banking Group feels like being part of a caring community. There is a real dedication to inclusivity, support, and development. My line manager is always available to help with any questions or advice and they’re happy to guide me as I grow and take on more responsibilities. They’re completely committed to helping me through my apprenticeship, always seeking opportunities for me to grow and learn.

The training that I receive on a regular basis is helping me go above and beyond in both my personal and professional life. As part of my apprenticeship programme, I have obtained the Level 4 Internal Audit Practitioner Designation. I am working to the Level 7 MSc Internal Audit Management and Consultancy Degree with Birmingham City University. Alongside a fully funded Master’s, I will also become a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and a fully Chartered Internal Auditor (CMIIA).

One of my biggest achievements with Lloyds Banking Group came when I was named Apprenticeship Ambassador of the Year 2022. I have also been nominated for two external apprenticeship awards by Lloyds Banking Group – The Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards, and the National Apprenticeship Awards. I’m so proud to also co-lead the GIA Community Engagement Network, be a Lloyds Banking Group Apprenticeship Ambassador and mentor other apprentices.

When I imagine my future with Lloyds Banking Group, I see myself progressing quickly and exploring the many kinds of opportunities within different areas of the business. The possibilities feel both endless and exciting.

I know what’s next will be exciting and rewarding.
