Sunderland AFC charity offering two apprenticeships

Want to work in business admin or IT support and follow Sunderland AFC? We have good news! The football club’s charity, the Foundation of Light, has vacancies for two apprenticeships.

Working in partnership with Sunderland College, the Foundation of Light is looking to recruit two apprentices.

The charity of Championship football club Sunderland AFC is looking for an IT support apprentice and a business administrative apprentice.

The IT support apprentice will be integral to the day-to-day technological operations at the foundation.

Some responsibilities will include maintaining the ICT helpdesk issues log and computer systems, resolving ICT or related queries, and organising and/or delivering foundation events.

As for the business admin apprentice, responsibilities will include providing administrative support to staff working within designated teams, inputting and maintaining designated business databases, and assisting with event preparation.

Peter Robertson, head of business development at Education Partnership North East, spoke about the opportunity that these apprenticeships represent.

He said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to gain a career at one of the North East’s leading organisations. As an apprentice at the foundation, apprentices will gain skills and qualifications that will serve them well for the rest of their careers.”

Ryan Gill started her career as an apprentice at the Foundation of Light and has progressed to a full-time administration assistant.

Ryan said: “My apprenticeship with the Foundation of Light not only allowed me to achieve a qualification, but it also helped me gain the experience, skills and confidence I needed to progress into full-time employment.”
