Good news for Midlands-based aspiring apprentices! In an exciting start to the new year, water company Severn Trent is set to open doors for more than 100 apprenticeship roles across 30 diverse fields. The move promises plenty of opportunities for young minds looking to carve out their professional path.
Severn Trent supplies around 4.6 million households and businesses with clean water across the Midlands and Wales. The new apprentices will join around 7,000 people across 120 locations.
Speaking to Lichfield Live, Severn Trent’s new talent lead, Jade Pearson, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming the next wave of exceptional talent into the business. Pearson highlighted the company’s commitment to creating work opportunities for young people in the Midlands, stating: “We’re thrilled to open up applications and invite a fresh wave of fantastic new talent into Severn Trent.”
A diversity of apprenticeship programs
Jade emphasized Severn Trent’s commitment to diversity, ensuring that their roles are as varied as the Midlands itself. The company actively promotes an inclusive environment, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life.
The Severn Trent website currently lists business apprenticeships, operational apprenticeships, and STEM-based apprenticeships too. The company was awarded the Princess Royal Training Award in September 2023 for its commitment to training and apprenticeships.
Jade said, “We’re lucky that we have such a varied programme, and so many different options for people to consider – and this year we’ve even added seven new different programmes.
“While we do have the vital operational, technical and engineering roles that you’d expect with a water company to help keep everything flowing, we actually also now have roles within software development, digital tech design and governance, as well as business, finance, environment, cyber security and even an opportunity to work in our laboratories.
“Our roles are as diverse as the region we live and work in, so there’s something for everyone to explore, no matter where you’re from or who you are.”
Interested applicants can find out more via the Severn Trent website. Applications close 29 March 2024.
