Are you passionate about storytelling and current events?
If you’re early on in your career and looking to break into journalism, the i paper has launched an exciting two-year apprenticeship programme designed for individuals who face barriers to traditional career paths in the media.
The i describes itself as “Britain’s youngest national news publisher” and operates out of London.
What does the apprenticeship offer?
Starting in February 2025, the scheme provides structured, on-the-job training and a nationally recognised Junior Journalism Apprenticeship qualification.
Delivered in partnership with the PA Media Academy, this opportunity includes a salary for the full two years, fully funded tuition, and mentoring from seasoned journalists at the i paper.
As an apprentice, you’ll work towards the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism and complete a final assessment project. The journey begins with six weeks of intensive training followed by a 13-week programme of hands-on experience, working Monday to Thursday with PA Media Academy and spending Fridays in the newsroom. After that, you’ll work full-time in the the i Paper newsroom, sharpening your skills while completing PA exams and your final project.
