Department for Education reveals Top 100 Employers rankings 2024

The top 100 apprenticeship employers in England for 2024 have been unveiled. We’ve got the full list below.

According to the Department for Education, who publish the list annually, the rankings are designed to “recognise employers’ commitment to creating new apprenticeships, the diversity of their apprentices, and the number of apprentices who successfully achieve their apprenticeships.”

How are the winners chosen?

Employers must submit an entry to be considered for the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers list. In 2024, only employers with at least 250 employees and 25 apprentices were eligible to enter, so small organisations and medium-sized companies aren’t represented.

An independent organisation, called High Fliers Research, then independently assessed each entry.

In its official release, the Department for Education said, “This year’s list highlights a diverse array of industries, reflecting the evolving landscape of the UK job market.”

Childcare, health and social care, and public sector roles are all well-represented. Professional services apprenticeships are also gaining in popularity – 17 employers in the top 100 offer apprenticeships in this sector. On the other end of the spectrum, the BBC is the only company listed from the creative and media sector.

Alongside the Apprenticeship Guide Awards winners, the Top 100 list might help prospective apprentices understand which employers they can trust to deliver a solid apprenticeship programme.
