Are you wondering what PR is? Public Relations (PR), is all about the way organisations communicate with the public, promote themselves, and build a positive reputation and public image. The way an organisation is represented in the media has a huge impact on how people perceive it. PR professionals try to influence the media to represent their organisation positively and communicate key messages.

 

The PR industry offers a wealth of opportunities. A PR job could see you organising events, participating in conversations on X, writing press releases, placing stories in newspapers and magazines, and promoting some of the world’s most exciting charities and brands.

The PR Apprenticeship allows those interested in starting their career in PR an opportunity to develop the key skills each PR professional needs:

The PRCA Apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification the equivalent to a foundation degree (first year of university). It involves:

  • On-the-job training in a PR agency or in-house department
  • Support and regular reviews with a coach who is currently practising in PR
  • Expert industry training courses delivered by PR professionals
  • Online resources
  • An online portfolio of evidence
  • Membership to PRCA allowing apprentices to build their professional network
  • Developing apprentices’ understanding of public relations and the impact it has on businesses
